In the Words of Our Friends and Members
I was drawn to Unitarian Universalism because it provides a religious framework with guiding principles that attracts people who desire a stake in their own spiritual growth. We are not told what to believe; instead we cherish the search for religious fulfillment and the support and inspiration of others in that quest. It is about community, our congregation.
—Sid from Dallas
It's a wonderful community of respectful souls and good friends who care about one another and the world. I like the services and gatherings because there's usually pretty stimulating conversation, music and humor, good food and stories. Gathering always feels good. The seven UU principles make sense. I'm anxious to see how they evolve.
—Rick from Kingston
Unitarian-Universalism in general and UUCWV in particular offers a place where people of diverse spiritual paths can come together, lovingly and with acceptance. This congregation emphasizes the qualities of faith, hope, and reason - three qualities that are sorely needed in the world today (and always). As a Zen Buddhist practitioner and environmental ethicist/philosopher, I have found a spiritual home. Also, religious education for both adults and children is fantastic!
—David from Nanticoke
I came to UUCWV six years ago because the people here welcomed me and my beliefs. I stayed because my life has been enriched by the diversity of other beliefs and backgrounds. This is a spiritual home that nurtures and inspires me.
—Becca from Kingston
I like coming to church because I like to play, eat, and have fun.
—Marley (7) from Wilkes-Barre
Just like America has been called a salad bowl (or melting pot) of different cultures, Unitarian Universalism can be described as a salad bowl of diverse beliefs.
