Our Congregation

The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Wyoming Valley began in 1991 with help from the Joseph Priestley District of the UUA and the Rev. John Morgan. We are a growing, vital, liberal religious presence in our part of the world.

Our Mission Statement

“Our mission is to provide a welcoming and supportive community which values and embraces diversity, seeks peace and justice through social action, and nurtures lifelong spiritual growth for ourselves and others.”

This statement will be used to guide and motivate the members of the congregation, and to help us communicate who we are to the larger world.

To fulfill this mission, we set ourselves the following goals:

  • to provide worship experiences which are open, inspiring, and life affirming.
  • to encourage youth and adults, through nurturing religious education programs, to become free-thinking people living by Unitarian Universalist principles,
  • to empower our members to be advocates for the realization of peace and justice so that our world is a safer and healthier place for all,
  • to share our religion with the Wyoming Valley and to actively reach out for new members.

Unitarian Universalists

If you're searching for a religious home that is guided by a quest for truth and meaning, not by a set creed or dogma, we invite you to discover Unitarian Universalism. We are a caring, open–minded religious community that encourages you to seek your own spiritual path. Unitarian Universalist congregations are places where people gather to nurture their spirits and put their faith into action by helping to make our communities—and the world—a better place.
