Religious education is a lifelong journey. Rather than teaching religion, we search for truth and meaning as our lives unfold. By learning from the many world religions, being aware of wonder in our everyday lives, and studying our own Unitarian Universalist heritage, we uncover our potential for spiritual and religious growth. Lifespan religious education classes offer our children and adults the means for religious growth: a stimulating curriculum, a supportive community, and a safe place to think and discover for themselves.

Goals for our Religious Education Program

To provide experiences that align our inner lives with our UU Principles through the following components:

  1. A Children's Chapel that combines familiar rituals and new experiences.
  2. An empowered Youth Group working together with adult partners.
  3. A commitment to social action.
  4. Activities that draw families together.
  5. Retreats that offer new modes of experience.
  6. Age-appropriate sexuality education.

New! UUCWV also has a growing new Youth Group for grades 7-12, with special retreats for the high school-age youth. The youth group is active in the community as well as socially within the UU world. Every month we will choose to do an outside activity whether it be a social action project or just going rock climbing with our friends. Currently in service we are working on The Gospel According to the Simpsons adapted to UU principles, where we watch a Simpsons episode every week and then discuss how the characters were acting out our 7 principles. The youth group is lead by the trained Youth Advisor Jo VonRue.
