President's Message
Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Wyoming Valley
| Our VoiceMarch 2010
One of the first acts I took as president was to clarify my goals for my term in office. I did this in what I called the President's Intent. Here are the four components of that message: 1. To take care of our congregation members first. The health and welfare of our members is the first priority. 2. Move in a purposeful but careful manner towards our new spiritual foundation. We must keep "flexibility" in mind as we search for a new church and minister. 3. Increase the effectiveness of communication between congregation members and committees through the use of the website, and other forms of regular contact. 4. Make our voice heard throughout the valley to serve as a beacon to others who may be searching for a liberal religious faith accepting of everyone's beliefs. While there is plenty of work yet to be done, substantial gains have been made in each of these areas. All of your hard work is starting to pay off in some very concrete ways. Average attendance is up, new attendees are coming to our services, fifteen new members were recently welcomed into the congregation, a new attendance record for a single service was set, a new CUUPs group was formed, and now we are starting to schedule community events in our new church. This is proof that our voice is starting to be heard throughout the valley. The opportunity to share our message and truly become a beacon of faith is upon us. History is filled with individuals and groups of people who stepped forward when the need arose. Let us rise to the occasion and make this our year. Thank you, Brian Brian Dugas is the UUCWV President.
