Help:Signing Up

Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Wyoming Valley

Before You Get Started

  1. Choose a good password.
    • Dos: A mix of letters, numbers, and special characters. Create a mnemonic that only makes sense to you. E.g., someone who five years ago moved from New York to Pennsylvania, might use something like NY->Pa.'03. That would be a password that's both easy to remember and virtually impossible to crack.
    • Don'ts: Names, complete words, dates.
  2. Have your email address ready. (Feel free to request your own YOU@uucwv.org address, but your existing address will work, too. Your address will not be shown on the website.)

Request a Website Username and/or Sign up for Our Mailing List

  1. Visit the sign-up page.
  2. Enter your name and a working email address.
  3. Select your UUCWV membership status and enter any positions who are holding (such as committee memberships.) This is needed to assign the appropriate access permissions to your account.
  4. Entering comments is optional. The field can be used to request accounts for people who are not affiliated with UUCWV but have a legitimate interest in signing up. This may, e.g., apply to non-UUCWV clergy and members of the local community.
  5. Choose whether to sign up for one of our main mailing lists.
    • It is highly recommended that you select Yes, so that you don't miss out on important announcements, events, and other news from the congregation.
  6. Click on Sign up.

Next Steps

  1. Check your email for automated messages from this site.
  2. If you signed up for a website username, you will be emailed a temporary password and an auto-generated username (which will be based on your first name and possibly your last name's intial, depending on availability.)
    • Log in to your new account and start exploring!
    • When you first log in, you will be asked to set your permanent password.
  3. If you subscribed to a mailing list, please respond to the confirmation email.
  4. Let us know if you have any questions of experience problems.
Login Trouble? Usernames are case-sensitive, and spaces matter. E.g., if your username is Jane D, trying to log in as jane d, Jane d, or janed will fail.
Family Accounts? Please note that our current user name scheme cannot accomodate usernames such as "The Smith Family" or similar names that would explicitly designate a username as belonging to a group of people. Family members are free to share the account of one member or sign up for individual usernames.
